About | After graduation Dan moved to California & began his career with the California Dept of Forestry fighting forest fires which he dearly loved, especially being part of the Helitack crew out of Los Gatos, CA. He was in the forestry for 20 yrs. & left to be a full-time single dad. He spent many years being the best dad he could be. He developed liver disease in 2020 which he fought fiercely for 2.5 years. In Oct of 2021 he was placed on the transplant list & was being evaluated at Nebraska Univ. to be dual listed & receive a living donor transplant from his niece or nephew, but life threw him another curve & he died of an "abdominal cocoon" before he was able to get a transplant. Dan was a simple, quiet man with nothing but kind words. He had many great attributes including patience, honesty, self-control and a wonderful sense of humor. He was a joker & loved to punk people with his wild stories and jokes. He was a kind & insightful man who always lit up the room & brought joy everywhere he went. He was loved by many and will be greatly missed. |
