About | Arnold “Arnie” Maile Age 66 Arnold "Arnie" Peter Maile, 66, of Washington, IL passed away on March 31, 2016. Arnie was born April 27, 1949 to Peter and Clara Fuchs Maile in Richmond, MN and was raised in Avon, MN. He married Lois Sauer on May 31, 1971 in Cold Spring, MN. She survives and resides in Washington. Also surviving are their three daughters, Melanie (Jerry) Ramsay of Minneapolis, MN , Melissa Maile of Denver, CO, and Molly Maile of Washington, IL; two grandchildren, Keaton and Gavin; and five siblings, Cecilia (Linus) Zimmerman of AZ, Clara (Dave) Blattner of Avon, MN, LaVern (Sharon) Maile of Cold Spring, MN, Leon (Brigid Keifer) Maile of St. Anna, MN, and Linda (Cliff) Borgerding of Avon, MN. Arnie was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Betty Lou Wegman; one brother, Edwin Maile; and his beloved dog, Chalupa. Arnie proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He pitched for the Avon Lakers, the local, amateur baseball league. His career at Columbia Gear spanned 49 years, with him retiring as a Sales Engineer on October 16, 2015. Arnie was filled with a fun loving, often joking, spirit and truly enjoyed gardening, canning, hunting, fishing, golfing, the ocean, crabbing, and feeding the squirrels. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - Midwest Affiliate. The family plans to celebrate Arnie's life by having an open house at the V.F.W. Post 9016 in Washington, IL on Thursday, April 7, 2016 from 2:00 P.M. - 6:00 P.M. There will also be a celebration of his life in Minnesota this summer. Arnie will be inurned in Montana, the place he would want to forever be (under an Evergreen tree). Deiters Funeral Home and Crematory in Washington is assisting the family with arrangements.
