About Richard "Dick" Wendland, 65, of Waseca, died Thursday, November 28, 2002 at his home in Waseca.

Richard, the son of Roy and Helen (Gibson) Wendland, was born July 23, 1937, in Waseca. He attended Waseca Public Schools. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1960 and served until being honorably discharged in 1962. He married Diane Crumb on November 28, 1964, at All Saints Catholic Church in New Richland. He worked at the E. F. Johnson Co. in Waseca prior to purchasing Barden's Bar in Waseca, which he owned and operated for 37 years. He also drove a shuttle service for the DM&E Railroad from 1987 until 1997. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing cards and visiting with friends. He was a member of First Congregational Church in Waseca.

He is survived by his wife, Diane of Waseca, one daughter, one son, and two grandchildren. He is also survived by his father, Roy Wendland, of Waseca; two sisters, Evelyn Kahnke, and her husband, Dave of Waseca, and Margaret Krassin, and her husband Ken, of Waseca; two brothers, Ken Wendland, and his wife, Helen of Waseca and John Wendland, and his wife, Janet of Garland, Texas and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his mother, three brothers, Robert, Ronald and Donald and by one sister, Mary.
