About | Allen D. Wimmer, 26, of 516 South National, died early Wednesday in his home, apparently after inflicting a single gunshot wound to his head. Greene County Medical Examiner Dr. Erwin Busiek ruled the death a suicide. Mr. Wimmer's body was found about 2:25 a.m. Wednesday. Survivors include his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Wimmer, 2534 Melville Road; mother, Mr. Katherine Grobiebe, 2722 North Oakland; two brothers, Michael, of the Melville address, and Randy, of 1815 South Fremont; a sister, Mrs. Sheil McCullough, Indiana state; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Wimmer, Route 7; and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Thelma Tuter, 2127 North Oakland. Mr. Wimmer was a lifelong Springfield resident and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Services will be announced by Ralph Thieme. [Spfd News Leader dated 09 Jun 1977; SSDI] Services for Allen D.
