About Mary Ann Barr Anderson was born February 7, 1933 in Springfield, Mo., to James H. and Thelma Parsons Barr. She passed away September 28, 2010 at St. John's Hospital, Springfield, Mo. Mary Ann graduated from Springfield Senior High and SMS with a major in Business. She taught 8 years at Carthage High School and finished her career after teaching 22 years at Hillcrest High School. She enjoyed working with young people and many have told her she was an outstanding teacher and a very positive role model.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother Hattie Barr, and in-laws Jack and Maybelle Anderson. She had unconditional love for her immediate family, and they for her. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerry R. Anderson, Springfield; one son Steven L. Anderson and his wife Julie, Edmond, Okla.; two grandsons, S. Luke Anderson, Johnson City, Tenn., and J. Ross Anderson and wife Jenny, Forney, Texas; one great-grandson, Jackson R. Anderson, Forney. She is also survived by her dear sister, Freda and husband Joe Fielder, Springfield; a very special nephew and niece, David and Julie Fielder and children Hannah and John; cousin, Alma Palmer of Nixa; also brother-in-law Jack D. and wife Shirley Anderson, Wimberley, Texas; aunt and uncle-in-law Robert and Edith Anderson Garst, Midland, Texas; special cousins-in-law John and wife Jean Greer, Marshfield, and all of their family; plus other close family and friends. Services are under the direction of Greenlawn South, Springfield. Pursuant to her request there will be no formal visitation. The casket will be closed at all times per the family's request and those who desire can sign a guest book at the funeral home Thursday afternoon or evening. She also wanted a graveside funeral which will be conducted by Joe Bright and Dwight Samuel, ministers of Sunset Church of Christ, Springfield, where Mary Ann was a proud, believing member. Burial will be in Mission Home Cemetery, Marshfield, on Friday, October 1 at 2:00 p.m. Mission Home is about 5 miles north of Marshfield on Highway W.
