About | Gary Wayne Barnett, 55, died peacefully on Palm Sunday, March 24, 2013. He was born in Mountain View, MO, on December 10, 1957. Gary received his Bachelors of Nursing degree from MacMurray College in Jackson, IL. He moved to Houston where, as a Registered Nurse, he worked at the V.A. Hospital for twelve years, then as a nurse caring for dialysis patients. Gary is survived by his life partner, Richard Vickrey, his ex-wife Kathy, son Aaron and his partner, Meredith Wheeler, daughter Adriel, sister Rita Hagenhoff and family in Fair Grove, MO, and brother Kevin Barnett and family in Liberty, MO. Gary loved the Houston Ballet, Broadway shows, creating costumes, cooking, traveling and the folk history of the Ozarks. He adored his Silky Terriers, Doggus, Ufdah, and Busy "B". A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00-5:00 PM, Sunday, April 7, 2013, at the home of close friends Jim Mozur and Jonathan Correia, located at 1220 Wrightwood Street, in Woodland Heights. Gary's final resting place will be the Osborn Cemetery in St. Joe, AK, where a service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2013. The family is grateful for the level of care Gary received at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and St. Luke's Center for Liver Disease.
