About | Dale Jean was born to Emma Jean Rafferty and Milton Dale Rafferty on April 9, 1957 in Superior, Nebraska, and died in her home in Vassar, Kansas December 4, 2011. Dale Jean attended grade school in Salina, Kansas, Salt Lake City, Utah, Lincoln, Nebraska and in Springfield, Missouri where she graduated from Kickapoo High School and attended Southwest Missouri State University. Dale also completed her education for an LPN degree from Colby Community College. She married Rich Von Behren May 27, 1978 in Grace United Methodist Church in Springfield, MO. Dale worked for the Hays, Kansas ambulance service as a first responder while her husband completed his masters degree at Fort Hays State University. She later worked as a school nurse for Sante Fe Trail Junior High in Carbondale, KS for more than 15 years. She left her nursing position shortly before her death. Dale Jean is survived by her husband, Rich Von Behren, of the home, daughter Adrienne Von Behren, of Ottawa, KS, son Erich Von Behren and friend Tai Thomas, grandson, Silas Von Behren, brother, Ronald Rafferty and parents, Emma Jean Rafferty and Milton Rafferty, all of Springfield, MO. Dale was a cheerful and friendly person who enjoyed traveling, visiting with her many friends and the special days for family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas. She traveled to the Caribbean and the Wisconsin Dells the last two years. With her husband, she attended countless garage sales and was an avid collector of Kewpie doll items. Her most favorite activity in recent years was being with her beloved grandson. In earlier years she enjoyed boating and fishing on nearby Lake Pomona and other area lakes as well as attending her children’s school and sports events. |
