About | Elvin R. 'Red' Doll, 73, 2124 Manitou St., died at 1212 p.m. Thursday at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack. Mr. Doll was born March 23, 1920 at Oronogo. He was a life-long resident of the Joplin area and a 1939 graduate of Webb City High School. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a gunner in Europe. He was a machinist for 30 years at the former Atlas Powder Co., retiring in 1983. He had worked at Midwestern Machinery Co. and the former Peerless Machinery Company. He was a member of Webb City Masonic Lodge No. 512, Joplin Chapter No. 91 of Royal Arch Masons, Jasper Council No. 30 of the Cryptic Masons, and the Knights Templar Ascension Commandery No. 39. He was a member of the local Scottish Rite Bodies and Mirza Shrine Temple, Order of the Quetzalcoatl and Scottish Rite Club, all of Pittsburg Kansas. He was a member of Joplin Shrine Club, Chapter No. 95 of the Order of Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Azotus Shrine No. 5, and the Pittsburg Elks Lodge. He was an honorary member of the Akdar Shrine Temple, Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Legion of Honor at both Mirza Shrine Temple and the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple, Springfield.
