About | Beatty M. Markham 55, of Grand Island, Neb., died Feb. 4, 1997, at St Francis Medical Center. He was born Feb. 23, 1941, at Fairbury, the son of Leon J. and Mary B. McKinney Markham. He grew up in Fairbury graduating from Fairbury High School in 1959. He then attended Fairbury Junior College for one year before joining the U.S. Navy in February of 1960. He was stationed in Norfolk, Va., until his discharge in February of 1964. On Aug. 22, 1965, he married Polly Lilenthal, at Trenton. They lived in Hastings for two years and he was employed with Nash Finch Co.. He attended college in Kansas City for a year before moving to Grand Island in 1968. He was employed for 13 years with Nash Finch in the wholesale data processing department. He then worked for Hornaday Manufacturing Co., in the maintenance department. In March of 1992, he joined the city of Grand Island, working in the maintenance department at the city library. His hobbies were fishing, hunting and country dancing. He was a member of the American Legion. Preceding him in death were his parents, and brother, Douglas. Survivors include his wife, daughter, Michele Worley and his husband Tony of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandchildren; brother, Andrew of Grand Island; sister, Luttanna Gunning and her husband Al of Austin, Texas. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Chapel of Kleine Funeral Home in Grand Island. Memorial to family choice. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. |
