| About | Dr. Ronald E. Cowles died March 8, 2005, at the age of 64, at Fawcett Memorial Hospital, in Port Charlotte, Fla., following a struggle with cancer. He pastored American Baptist churches from 1961 – 1986, in Kansas and Iowa. He then answered the call into denomination work, which took him to Sioux Falls, S.D. as the position of executive minister of the American Baptist Churches of the Dakotas. He was the son of the Rev Fred Cowles, who was the pastor of the Baptist Church in Fairbury,, and it was here that his son Ronald met and married Rowena Miller, daughter of Russell Miller. Upon his retirement, he has been serving as a volunteer pastor in Arcadia Fla, at a Seasonal R.V. Church. Survivors include his wife; sons, Richard and David; daughter, Rebecca Cowles Phillips; three grandchildren; and one step grandchild. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls. S.D. |
