About | Frances B. Gembica, died Sunday, September 21, 1997 at the Skilled Care Nursing Unit at St. Francis Medical Center .Burial is in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Frances was born on April 4, 1946 in Grand Island to Rosalio & Maria (Aguilera) Briseno. She grew up and attended school in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High in 1965. She also attended Central Community School. She married Leonard Gembica on August 14, 1982. Mr. Gembica died on December 25, 1993. She did volunteer work and served as an interpreter for the Grand Island/Hall County Health Department, Third City Community Clinic, Crisis Center and Family Violence Coalition. She most recently was employed as a family support provider through Visinet, Inc. She also served on the Mayors Task Force as a liaison for the Hispanic Community. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, floral arranging and other crafts. She was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, St. Mary's Hispanic prayer group and Catholic Daughters. She served on the board of the Hall County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and was a speaker to the Hispanic community for the American Cancer Society. Survivors include two brothers, John of Grand Island and Robert of Wood River; four sisters, Juanita of Omaha, Sheila of Grand Island, Josie Briseno Jensen of Kearney and Mary Briseno Dinneen of Omaha. |
