| About | Date of Birth: July 1, 1947 to Maxwell & Reti (Holley) Coons in Alma. Date of Death: June 1, 2001 at the St. Francis Medical Center of Grand Island, Nebraska. Burial at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Mr. Coons was cremated. Mr. Coons grew up in Alma and at age of 15 moved to Grand Island. He graduated from Grand Island Senior High School in 1965. He entered the U.S. Air Force on July 28, 1965, serving in Vietnam and was discharged as a sargeant on July 3, 1969, then served in the Air Force Reserve until July 27, 1971. He married Shirley McMullen in 1971. He married Linda S. Dexter Whalen on December 5, 1987. The couple lived in Grand Island where he was employed at Rich & Sons Camper Sales as their shop supervisor.He was a member of the Catholic faith, the Hi-Flyer's Club and the Grand Island Island Modelers Club.He enjoyed woodworking, flying kites, model cars, airplanes and boats. |
