About | Larry Alan Andersen was born December 10, 1946 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Kenneth and Thelma (Jacobsen)Andersen. He passed away November 21, 2019 at his home in San Antonio, Texas. Larry graduated from Grand island Senior High School with the class of 1965. Larry, was a sprinter, received a track scholarship to the University of Wyoming where he studied petroleum engineering and graduated in January of 1970.. He continued at a sprinter’s pace in the business world, working his way from roustabout to various executive level positions in the gas and oil industry. His bold appetite for problem solving led him to high profile positions throughout the US ,Middle East,Europe and Asia. Selected roles/achievements include arranging talent and knowledge exchanges while leading the restoration of the PNZ between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait following the first Gulf War and overseeing over 1B of investment into the Karachaganak and Caspain Pipeline Consortium and doubling the fields output. He managed business units that were challenging and as a result, he was much loved., sometimes maligned but always fair. Whether at home or on the job he was approachable. He had an opinion and was full of ideas. An example of his advice: respect your current endeavor and work harder. The consummate outdoormam, Larry considered himself an environmentalist, conservation advocate and steward of our natural resources marked; perhaps his proudest professional achievement when (as VP of Safety, Health and Environment, Texaco Worldwide E&P) his efforts led to Texaco receiving the Leaving the Legacy Award, Cypress Island Preserve from the Nature Conservancy of Louisiana in 2001 and The Conservation Leadership Award from the Nature Conservancy of Texas that same year. While.Larry had an extraordinary carreer, his most treasured and job titles were husband, father, grandfather and friend. Larry is survived by his wife and classmate Betty (MacKinnon ) Anderson of 54 years; his children, Shawn Andersen, Kimberly Hastings, Corey Anderson, Ian Anderson and eight grandchildren, Cody, Haley Harrison, Daphene, Madison Andersen and Alexandria, Maxwell and Andersen Sweet, all of whom loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother,Jerry..
