About | Marilyn K. Sok, 76, of Grand Island, NE, died Thursday, January 18, 2024, at CHI Health St. Francis Medical Center. Marilyn’s wish was to be cremated. A memorial service will be Saturday, at 11:00 a.m. January 27, 2024, at Curran Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Justin Bangert will officiate. Memorials are suggested to the family for designation at a later date. Curran Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. Marilyn was born March 7, 1947, in St. Paul, NE, the daughter of Harrison G. and Alice (Lange) Beck Bartlett. Marilyn grew up in Cotesfield, North Loup, and Scotia area. She graduated from John H. Beveridge High School in 1965. In 1967 Marilyn married Russell T. Freeman in Grand Island, NE. The couple lived in Grand Island. Marilyn worked at the Lutheran Memorial Hospital as a secretary in the engineering and personnel departments. She married Larry A. SoK (deceased) in 1980 in Columbus, NE. They lived in Grand Island where Marilyn worked for Dr. Ben Somer DDS before accepting a position with Eldon Benson. She held multiple roles as an executive assistant for ABC Engineered Trusses, Office Manager for Chem Dry Carpet Cleaning, and was in sales at Midwest Auto Brokerage and later was a manager of Dollar Mart Plus. She was a mentor for Mosaic and worked for over a decade in the cafeteria at Central Catholic High School and later in Northwest High School’s cafeteria. At the time of her death, she was a bus monitor for Holiday Tour and Travel. Marilyn was an excellent seamstress, enjoyed reading, assembling puzzles, crocheting, and was a fan of James Patterson. Marilyn is survived by her mother, Alice Bartlett of Grand Island, NE Brother, Gerald L. Beck of Grand Island, NE Step-brother, Daryl Bartlett children, Russell A. Freemen (Candi Thies) of Grand Island, NE Kendra D. Nash (R.J. Pryce) of Grand Island, NE Others left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Matthew (Jaz) Sok, Gavin (Hannah Fraley) Sok, Harley Sok, JaeLynn Russell, and five great-grandchildren, Sheila Curtis, and all who called her mom and nana, too numerous to count. Marilyn is preceded in death by her father, Harrison Beck, sister, Marcia Beck, and step-brother, Tim Bartlett. |
