About | Nancy attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln after graduation for 1 year and married Terry Winslow in September 1966. She worked at Lincoln Telephone Company until we returned to live in Chapman NE in 1968. Our first daughter, Wendy, was born in November 1968. We moved to Grand Island in March1970 when our second daughter, Jennifer was born. Nancy operated an in home daycare and later started the YWCA daycare program, named "Live Y'ers" and still operating, while attending at Kearney State College majoring in Education, minoring in Early Childhood Special Education. Our son, Terry Jr., was born in July 1978. She graduated KSC in 1981. After graduation she taught English as a Second Language and was a Homebound teacher for the Grand Island Public Schools. She was later employed as a Preschool Special Education teacher by ESU #7 for 15 years. She was a member of St Stephen's Episcopal Church and participated in the youth programs throughout her life and where she had most recently implemented the Godly Play program. She was interested in the Waldorf Education movement and was active in the Waldorf Little Acorn School in Lincoln, the "Read to Me" program at Albion, NE. and St. Francis Medical Center. She belonged to the Nebraska Education Association and was a Girl Scout leader. She passed along her love of books and reading to our grandson, George Schoepe who to this day will not give up any books by choice, much like Nancy. Her love of books was recognized by our family donating 5000+ books out of her personal collection to the GI Public Schools in 2006. Nancy passed suddenly on Easter morning 2005 from a pulmonary aneurysm while recovering from a back surgery. She was preceded in death by both parents Clinton and Eulalie Swartz. |
