About | Nathan "Nate" Walden Jr., 70 of Grand Island passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2018. Nate was born on September 15, 1947 in David City, oldest son of Nathan and Dorothy (Smith) Walden, Sr. Nate's family relocated to Grand Island where attended Grand Island Public Schools and graduated from Grand Island Senior HIgh in 1965. He enlisted in the U. S. Army serving two tours in Vietnam before his discharge in 1974. Following his service in the Army, Nate held down various jobs and was a "Jack of all Trades". when it came to employment. On February 14, 2009, Nate was united in marriage to Janet White. Nate was a lifetime member of the DAV, he was a devoted Husker Football fan, enjoyed watching NASCAR and western movies, his favorite being McClintock. Nate loved the freedom of the open road and his time was best spent with his motorcycle and other bike enthusiasts. Nate was excitedly awaiting the arrival of his first great- grandchild. His memory is cherished and celebrated by his wife, Janet of Grand Island; children Nathan (Toby) Walden of Valrico, Fl. Julie Walden (Stanley) Waters of Grand island; grandchildren, Kori Eckel, MaKaylah Eckel, Cade Walden, Dominic Mitchell and Landon Mitchell; brother Raymond (Cadance)Walden of Omaha, stepchildren, Stephan Stener, Shane Stener & Leahya Mitchell of Kansas; brother-in-law, Danny White, Bill (Gail) White and Jon White of Kansas along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Nate was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Nathan & Etta Walden, Hiram & Effie Smith; Aunt Ruth and sister-in-law June. |
