Patricia McCartney 54, died Thrusday, May 23, 2002 in Parker, Colorado. She was born Aug. 10, 1947 to Mr. and Mrs. D.J. McCatney of Omaha, Ne. She worked as Director of Technology for McREL's. Among Pat's many accomplishments during her tenure at McREL include the development and implementation of the McREL Technology Initiative (MTI), a comprehensive program designed to help K-12 schools employ technology throughout all grades and academic departments. Pat also developed and launched McREL's Rural Technology Institute, an annual 3-day conference where teams of teachers, administrator, and school technology personnel work together to develop comprehensive technology plans appropriate for rural schools and districts. Before joining MCREL, Pat spent years as a teacher and educational technologist, teaching from kindergarten through graduate school. She had Masters degrees in English and Computers in Education, and at the time of her death was near completion of her Ph.D. in Educational Technology from the University of Denver. Working in all levels of education from classroom teacher to technology consultant for the Colorado Department of Education and curriculum director for education companies, Pat was experienced at designing and implementing effective technology programs for classrooms, schools, and districts. Pat graduated from Grand Island High School in 1965. |
