About | Randy Lee Mead 62 of Phoenix died Monday, November 23, 2009 of a heart attack. He will be cremated. A memorial service will be at a later date in Grand Island. Mr. Mead was born September 19, 1947 to Ralph & Virginia (Ekstrom) Mead in Grand Island. Survivors of the immediate family include a daughter, Karl Ann Smith of Los Angelos; his father and stepmother, Ralph & Gladys Mead of Grand Island, a sister and brother-in-law, Debra & Tim Lingfelder of Grand Island; two stepsisters and a stepbrother-in-law, Peggy & Larry Christensen of Grand Island and Sandy Wise of Arvada, Colorado. Also surviving are three granddaughters, a special friend Susanne Champaign of Phoenix, two uncles and many nieces and nephews. Randy graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1965. During high school, he worked for McElroy Heating & Air Conditioning. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army. He moved back to Grand Island and continued to work for McElroy. Randy married Terry Scheel in 1967 and lived in Anchorage, Alaska. He worked for the Alaska Pipeline and later moved to Seattle and worked for Hermanson Corp.Heating & Air Conditioning as a manager of special projects. He became part owner of the company before resigning because of health problems. Randy made his home in Seattle and Phoenix. Randy was an avid golfer and competed in many tournaments, including a trip to Hawaii. He loved to fish and go to stock car races. He enjoyed life and had many, many friends. Randy is proceded in death by his mother, Virginia Mead and grandparents, Vern & Maxine Ekstrom and Sylvia Colwell. |
