| About | Susan Leoda (Cates) Jones, 63, of Carlsbad, California, died July 6, 2010 at her home after a year long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and friends. Susan, the youngest daughter of Leoda Marie (Switzer) and Clarence "Casey" I. Cates was born June 3, 1947 in Grand Island. She was preceded in death by her parents. Susan is survived by her beloved daughter, Jessica Jaime Jones, her sisters, June Oliphant of Grand and Rosalie Lile of Phoenix; a nephew Casey Oliphant, his wife Kim and their three children, Laura, Matt and Kristin of Kearney, and a nephew, Jason Lile, his wife, Erin and their two children, Chase and Jamison of Oregon City, Oregon; and special friends, Ester, Jean, Julie, Tracey and Scott. Her passions were her work, her daughter, and she loved going to Nebraska to spend time at the family lake home at Johnson Lake, Lexington, Nebraska. A memorial service was held July 12 at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Encinitas, California. Memorials can be sent to the American Cancer Society. |
