About Leslie R. “Les” Wilson, age 61, of York, NE, died Wednesday, December 3, 2008 at Stromsburg, NE. He was born July 4, 1947 at York to Leslie H. and Florence (Nolan) Wilson. Les graduated from York High School with the class of 1965 and on August 31, 1974 he was united in marriage to Rose M. “Dolly” Thompson at York. He had been employed at Kroy Industries in York since 1971. Prior to that he worked at Wayne Anderson’s gas station and Roger Clarks’s junk yard. He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. Les had a number of interests, but his passion was drag racing from which he retired in 1971. He currently served as crew chief for his wife who is also involved in drag racing. He was a former Boy Scout, Little League Football Coach and enjoyed fast pitch softball and Legion ball. His family and friends were important to him and he enjoyed the times they spent together. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Rose M. “Dolly” Wilson of York; brother Steve Wilson and his wife Barb of York; sisters, Beverly and her husband Eldon Eklund of York, Linda and her husband Gerald Sharon of Dennison IA, and Mary Wilson of Waco, NE. Also surviving are six nephews; five nieces; numerous great-nephews and nieces; mother and father-in-law, Nora and Richard Thompson of York and many special friends and family members. Preceding him in death were his parents.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2008 at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Reverend Tim Marshall officiating. Cremation will follow the service with private family inurnment at a later date. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday at the mortuary with the family greeting friends that evening from 7 – 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Adopt-A-Pet, Epworth Village, or the Emmanuel Lutheran School.
