| About | 1931-2026 In his own words I was born on September 17, 1931, in Sparks, Nevada, to Guilia and Onesto Martinelli. I attended Sparks schools and graduated from Sparks High School, where I was a proud member of the football team that won the State Championship in 1948. Upon my return from the Army, the love of my life, Nancy Moore, was waiting for me, and we were married in 1954. We were blessed with four beautiful children. I was a longtime Reno barber and operated out of the Wells Avenue Barber Shop. I was a member of the State Board of Barber Examiners for 19 years and served a term as president of the National Association of Barber Examiners. Nancy and I were avid hikers and golfers and loved to travel, having visited many overseas countries. We traveled our country extensively, as well as Canada and Alaska in our motor home. I was preceded in death by my beloved wife Nancy of 70 years, with whom I have been longing to be reunited; my mother and father; daughter Julie Wall; brother Ernie Martinelli; sister Dina Smith; granddaughter Erin Martinelli, and great-grandson Ethan Martinelli. I leave behind the family I loved so dearly: my sons, Greg (Becky) and Craig; my daughter Sheila Caramella; my grandchildren, Jason Martinelli, Kress Schlim, Julie Brand, Carissa Backus, Jacie Caramella; 18 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. At my request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor my memory may make a donation to the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows, https://bgctm.org/. |
