About (no additional information)
Events It is with heavy hearts that the family of Iris June Tholl Campbell announce her passing on October 29, 2025, at the age of 78, surrounded by her loved ones.

Iris was born on June 25, 1947, in Sparks, Nevada to Paul “Bud” Tholl and June Tholl. She was a life-long Nevadan who graduated from Sparks High School in 1965.

Iris married Jay Campbell, the love of her life, in November 1968 in Lovelock, Nevada. They built their lives in northern Nevada residing in Lovelock, Battle Mountain, Sparks, Washoe Valley, and finally building their dream home in the Virginia City Highlands.

Iris spent more than 15 years in the casino security field. She was proud of the fact she was the first female Director of Security for the Peppermill. She spent many years as a reserve deputy for both the Washoe County and Storey County Sherriff Offices.

Iris had a soft spot for furry friends treating each one, large or small, as a member of the family. She was an avid horse rider which led to her being an enthusiastic and committed volunteer with Virginia Range Wildlife Protection Association which helped introduce the nation’s first birth control efforts for wild horse mares.

Travel was one of Iris’ greatest passions, one that she shared early on with her dad, Bud. She always said that she only worked so she could travel. Her travels took her all over the world, either on her own, or with family and friends. Some of her favorite places included Canada, China, France, Hawaii, Holland, India, Ireland, Scotland, Thailand, and New Zealand. She cherished the trips she took with her daughters and enjoyed exposing them to the beauty of the world.

Iris will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 57 years, Jay, daughters Jaimie Matthews (Donnie), Kerry Turner (Morgan), Colleen Clugston (Will), and stepdaughter Iris Key (John Hahn), four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, as well as many dear friends and extended family members.

Iris was predeceased by her parents, Bud and June; and brothers Paul “Pat” Tholl and Mark Tholl.

The family is especially grateful to Eden Health Hospice for their compassionate care and support during her final days. At Iris’ request, there will not be a service. Memorial donations may be made to the Nevada Humane Society, 2825 Longley Lane, Suite B, Reno, NV, 89502.
