Died in 5th grade. Hit by a speeding car in front of the high school Good Friday. Mrs. Dearborn was our penmanship teacher. I was a little jealous because she thought Helen's writing was better than mine... Billy Palmer was new to our class and he was very comforting to me, when they announced that Helen's funeral was going to be at St Mary of the Assumption Church in Tilton and students could go with their parents permission he encouraged me to call me mother to get permission. I still think about her and miss her terribly even after all these years. She was my bestfriend from 1st grade on until she died. I often wonder what she would have done with her life if she hadn't died that fateful day. I think she was destined for great things! I know she touched many lives in the short time she was here and I am one person who will never forget that she existed and that she was my friend. Helen I still love you with all my heart. Evelyn |
