Charles J. Grippaldi, class of 1945, was an honor student and an athlete. Charles was a left handed pitcher for the Blue Bishops and practiced with the New York Yankees when the Yankees used Asbury Park Highschool for their Spring Training. When Charles was in elementary school he was the highschool varsity mascot and batboy for the Blue Bishops. Later becoming a star pitcher for the Varsity baseball team. He served in World War II and graduated from Rowan University and recieved his Masters Degree from Rutgers University. He became a school administrator for 38 years for the Twp. of Ocean School District. He leaves behind 3 children, one who is a teacher at Thurgood Marshall School in Asbury Park, and two grandchildren. Charles always attended the class of 1945 reunions. He was a very proud BLUE BISHOP!!! |
