About | Samantha Joan Bodnar, Class of 1986, Passed away on August 13, 2024, in Elkton, MD, from complications of a bacterial infection. She was 56. Born and raised in Trenton, Samantha spent the majority of her life in New Jersey, until the final two years of her life, when she and her family moved to the little town of North East, Maryland. After graduating from Nottingham, Samantha earned a Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University. She spent the majority of her working life employed to a National Environmental Testing firm based out of Lancaster, Eurofins. She spent over 20 years with the corporation, handling contract proposals and other necessities for clients across the country, including the US Armed Forces. Away from her professional work, Samantha had one child, Jacqueline Rose, with her former Husband David Schwoyer, of Northeast Philadelphia. The were married for 8 years but divorced in 2011. Not long after her divorce, she met former Los Angeles Times Sports Writer Antonio Solorzano, ad the two began a romance that lasted for the rest of her life. Although they were engaged to be married, they had decided to wait until her retirement to wed. The couple had just moved to a new residence when she fell ill. In addition to her daughter and fiancé, she is survived by her younger brother, Craig Bodnar, Class of '88, of Florence, NJ, her two nieces, Mrs. Andrea Ledden, of Trenton, and Mrs. Paige Zebrowski, of Fort Bliss, TX, her Grand Nephew, Owen Joseph Zebrowski, and her Grand Niece, Fae Zebrowski |
Events | Per her wishes, there will be no public funeral service planned, however, a "Celebration of Life" will be held at a future date to be determined by the family. In Lieu of Flowers, the family encourages donations to be made to the Bruckner Nature Center of Titusville, NJ, where she worked as a staff member during the 1990's |
