About | Carmela Polizzotto was a loyal viewer of the Hallmark Channel and with her favorite month, Christmas in July, coming to an end, so did she. Mel took her last breath on Thursday at 11:07 am, July 27th, 2023; in her bed, as she wanted, with a Christmas in July movie playing in the background. She was surrounded by family, friends so close that they are considered family, and by all her favorite angels that were there to usher her into heaven. She was survived by her overly kind and patient saint of a of husband of 53 years, Chuck. By her three children: Chuckie, Lori, and Michael. By her five grandchildren: Jacqulyn, Justin, Janell, Mikey, and Kaylee Jo. By her nieces and nephew: Anthony, Dayna, and Angela. By her Aunt Lorraine, Aunt Nancy, and Lenny and too many other cousins and friends to mention. Carmela was the Italian family Matriarch and a Jersey girl. She was a lover of all things Elvis, T-Bone steaks, candy apples, fancy dinners with friends, and a lover of her swimming pool. She also loved going for rides with her brother Tony on his motorcycles. “But Anyway!” “Oh, hold on, someone is calling” and “I don’t need a second opinion, I like mine just fine” were three things that came out of her mouth most often. Carmela was known for welcoming everyone and I mean everyone in and to stay as long as they wanted. She loved feeding way too many people her delicious Italian cooking. She would say: Oh, come over for dinner; it’s just us and the immediate family. You’d walk in and find tables lined up from the front door to the back of the house with 42 place settings…that was Carmela! With all that generosity and hospitality in mind, around her neck she always wore a cross. But believe me if you crossed her none of those things would help save you. Trust me, her bad side was not a place you would want to find yourself. In closing, there is just one thing we want to say: “Ma! Where’s the Meatloaf!” In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Candlelighters of Southwest Florida at CandlelightersSWFL.org. Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 9:30am - 11am at Coral Ridge Funeral Home; 950 Chiquita Blvd S., Cape Coral, FL 33991.
