Events | Daniel Thomas Sinclair, 75, of Wanaque, passed away after a courageous fight with cancer on Saturday, July 6, 2024. Dan was the loving devoted husband of Linda (nee Cosgrove), proud father and father-in- law of Ryan and his wife Alexandra, and Evan and his wife Catherine. He loved doting on his three grandchildren, Jack, Campbell, and Genevieve. Dan will be remembered as a loving brother-in-law, favorite uncle, close friend, and a mentor to many. He will be dearly missed. Born in Paterson, and raised in Prospect Park, Dan attended Manchester Regional High School in Haledon, NJ. After graduating high school in 1967, Dan went on to study education at Glassboro State College, now Rowan University, and received a Masters Degree in School Administration from William Paterson University. Dan devoted his career to education and became a champion of students in the school district where he worked, and in the town where he raised his children. After retiring as Director of Cooperative Education at Bergen County Special Services School District, Dan served on the Wanaque School District Board of Education as a member and President, a member of the school board at Lakeland Regional High School, in Wanaque, the New Jersey School Boards Association, where he served a term as President, and later on the Executive Committee of NJSBA, and Passaic County representative to NJSBA, where he was a fierce advocate for the non-college bound learner. Dan always had the best interest of the student at heart and continued to give his time and energy to making the school district better for all children even after his own boys were no longer students. It was through this devotion that Dan was an integral part of getting the Wanaque Haskell Education Foundation back up and running, and retired as treasurer earlier this year. Dan is predeceased by his parents Daniel and Mary Sinclair, and his younger sister Cynthia Maher. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8pm on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave, Hawthorne, NJ 07506. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 11:00am at St Mary’s RC Church, 17 Pompton Ave, Pompton Lakes, NJ 07442. Cremation will take place privately.
