About Lived in Edison, Tenn.- Hosea G. Richards Jr. 66 passed away peacefully on Jan. 30, 2017. His beloved wife of 45 years, Kimberly, was at his bedside at the VA Mountain Home Healthcare facility in Tennessee. Hosea graduated from Newton High School in 1969 and enlisted in the U.S. Army where he trained at Fort Dix. He was a combat engineer E-5 Sgt. and served in the Vietnam War from 1969-1971. He met his best friend and future wife, Kimberly, and they lived happily in Hampton Township where they built their first home.He moved the family to Cedar Ridge, Colo., where he excelled in business as an excavator and designed and built new structures along the lands.
In 2016, Hosea moved to Edison, Tenn. He loved to travel and enjoyed the mountains and free space of the open wilderness. He enjoyed softball and racing his mini sprint car competitively on dirt tracks. He loved walking his black Labrador Retriever, Garth. Hosea was a warm and understanding family man with a hear of gold who had touch the hears of many people along the way in life. He will be missed and never be forgotten.Hosea was predeceased by his mother, Elsie M. Richards(1994) and a younger brother, Allan W. Richards (1997). Hosea is survived by his father, Hosea Richards Sr., of Andover, his wife, Kimberly(Knoll) Richards, of Tennessee, two brothers, Brion M.Richards,of Newton and Ronald G. Richards, of Virginia, and a sister, Joy C. Thatcher,of Florida.Private cremation services at Stanhope Union Cemetery, Stanhope, and burial of remains will be at 10 am.Thursday, Feb.9. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Newton Memorial Post 5360, 85 Mill St., Newton, NJ 07860.
