| About | From fellow classmate Jo Ellen Cirlincione: Ellen Martin was an amazing Jazz singer. You can hear her on Spotify and on You Tube Music. We met in high school (OTHS) and became fast friends. In those years, she was very shy, but at a senior year talent show, she unleashed her beautiful voice to the amazement of everyone." Ellen moved to NY to pursue her talent and became an accomplished Jazz singer. That is where she met the love of her life and married. Her husband predeceased her several years before she developed the illness that eventually took her life. Ellen was a gentle, kind and loving human being. She had a great sense of humor. At our 50th high school reunion, she donned a black wig and sang with a fellow classmate as Cher, " I Got You Babe". I encourage all who knew her to listen to her album "Fly Like This"; especially that song in particular. It really describes her ability to rise above difficulties in life. The Jazz pianist, Burt Eckoff, described Ellen's voice as " very rich and at times ethereal and compelling". Just type her name into your search engine and the name of the album. She will come up. She is looking at you holding a dove with her beautiful smile. I guess Heaven needed one more angel with a beautiful voice, but thankfully, you can listen to that angel now. |
