About | Georges Mills, NH: Richard “Dick” K. Trowbridge, 85, died on February 1, 2018 at The Seasons at Summercrest in Newport, NH surrounded by his loving family. Dick was born on February 17, 1932 in Summit, NJ to the late Philip N. and Eleanor (King) Trowbridge. Dick graduated from Summit High School in 1950 and Dartmouth College with the class of 1954. He worked as a District Commercial Manager for Southern New England Telephone for 38 years based in New Haven, CT before retiring to New Hampshire. Dick served his country as a Captain in the United States Air Force. Dick loved music and sports (especially the NY Giants, Brooklyn Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, and all sports teams at Dartmouth). He enjoyed Dixieland Jazz Music and playing the piano, banjo and boom bass. He vacationed every summer in Stone Harbor, NJ. Dick was a kind man with a great smile, who attracted friends wherever he went. He was married to the love of his life, Marjory (Perkins) Trowbridge, for more than 62 years. Once they retired to New Hampshire, Dick helped Marge raise Golden Retrievers. He enjoyed playing tennis and was a member of the Newport Indoor Tennis Club and the Lake Sunapee Yacht Club. Dartmouth always held a special place in his heart and he was very active helping his alma mater. The Barn Playhouse in New London was a summer favorite for Dick and Marge, as well as spending time at the Lake Sunapee Yacht club. Dick was predeceased by his parents and by his brother, Philip Trowbridge, Jr. Surviving family members include his wife, Marge Trowbridge of Georges Mills, NH, son, Rick Trowbridge and his wife, Tertia, of Madison, CT, daughter, Page Gyatt and her husband, Doug, of Woodbridge, VA, and grandchildren, Ryan, Alex, and Phoebe Trowbridge, and Doug Gyatt, Jr., and Ashleigh Gyatt. A memorial service will be held on Saturday February 10, 2018 at 2 PM at Chadwick Funeral Home, 235 Main Street, New London, NH. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Alzheimer's Association. |
