Jonathan T. Hartman, 18, of Wall Township, passed away Saturday, Nov. 29 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He attended Old Mill Elementary School, was a 2008 graduate of Wall Township High School and had begun his first year of studies as a communications major at Cabrini College in Radcliffe, Pa. During high school, he was employed at Mike's Deli in Wall. He was a former Cub Scout, played on South Wall Little League and was a member of the Atlantic Club Swim Team for many years. He was also a communicant of All Saints Episcopal Church in Bay Head. He loved listening to music, playing his guitar, skateboarding, going to the beach, surfing, snowboarding, and hanging out with his friends. Jonathan's smile and good nature touched many lives. He has an abundance of friends and was well liked by everyone. He will be truly be missed by all.
Jonathan was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Sara Elizabeth and George William Hartman. He is survived by his parents, Thomas and Lori Hartman, of Wall; his sister, Lauren C. Hartman, currently at home; his maternal grandparents, Jon and Marguerite Zschiegner, of Manasquan and Marco Island, Fla. He also leaves his aunt and uncle, Stephen and Babette Zschiegner, of Wall; his aunt, Barbara J. Hartman, of Wall; his uncle, William J. Hartman, of Lake Como and numerous cousins. He will also be missed by his dog, Nelly.
Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Friday at the O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Episcopal Church in Bay Head followed by committal at Atlantic View Cemetery, Manasquan. In lieu of flowers, donations to a scholarship fund to be established in memory of Jonathan may be sent c/o O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35, Wall, NJ 07719.
