Upon retirement as Sargent of the Camden County Police Dept after 27 years, my brother devoted his life to volunteering & fundraising for the NJ Special Olympics, the Wildwood Polar Bear Plunge, the Glendora VFW Post in support of the veterans. At Xmas he played Santa and visited several families with gifts of toys, clothing & food. Most dear to his heart was to read children's stories and present gifts at the County Foster Children's Christmas party. In addition, Rich founded the Camden County Emerald Society Pipes & Drums (CCESPD) in 1994. Rich was decorated 21 times for bravery, heroism & meritorious service. In 2018, former NYPD Commissioner, Paul O'Neill awarded him the Irish Law & Order Awards. He went above and beyond everything he did, and Rich will forever be remembered as the Gentle Giant. |
