| About | 40, born March 5, 1969, in Embudo, New Mexico. Our bright and shining star has made Heaven a better place and has gone to be with our Lord. On December 10, 2009, at Alta Vista Hospital in Las Vegas, New Mexico, she calmly passed into His presence with family members at her side. Shanti is survived by her husband William Turner and children Aspen, Mikhail and Frazier; parents Allen and Joan Lovekin; sister and brother-in-law Sarah and Abran Salazar; brother and sister-in-law Luke and Kim Lovekin; brother Patrick Lovekin; nephews Christopher, Daniel, Isaac and Joshua; and many extended family members. Shanti graduated from McCurdy High School, then earned her Bachelor’s in Psychology and her Master’s in Social Work from Highlands University in Las Vegas. She worked with Pathways for Children in Canton, Ohio, for three years and with an alcoholism counselor in Las Vegas. For the past several months, she volunteered at Samaritan House in Las Vegas, answering the phone, receiving clients, and helping to distribute commodities. Shanti was continually giving of herself, reaching out to others. She touched the lives of very many people and was much loved. Shanti, we will always miss you, and your resilient spirit will always be an inspiration to us. The memory of your talents, generosity, humor, and beauty will shine on in our hearts. |
