About | Obit from findagrave.com: James Eugene Durso III passed away at home in the arms of his mother after a long illness on March 16, 1994. He was 34 years old. The son of Joan and James E. Durso II, Jim was born on July 6, 1959. Jim was a 1978 graduate of Beacon High School, where he was active in the Drama Club and Dramatics Council. He earned his associates degree from Herkimer College and his bachelor's degree in Theater from SUNY Fredonia. Jim worked professionally as a wardrobe assistant on Broadway, working with many celebrities in numerous productions, including Cats, Starlight Express, Jerome Robbins' Broadway and The Crucible. At the time of his passing, Jim was survived by his parents; his sister Jeaniene Durso; many aunts, uncles and cousins, and a host of loving and devoted friends from all over the country. Jim's services were held at Halvey Funeral Home in Beacon. His funeral service was officiated by his childhood friend, Father John Salvas. A memorial service for Jim was also held at a theater in New York City. Jim was a wonderful, fun and loving soul who was adored by all. He will be forever missed, and will always live on the hearts of those who were blessed to have him in their lives. Facing the cemetery from Washington Avenue, Jim's grave is located on the right-hand side, a short way up the hill. He has a black, heart-shaped tombstone with a coat hanger and a safety pin - symbols from his business card - engraved on the front. His surname is engraved on the back of the stone. |
