About | Obit from the Poughkeepsie Journal and the Times Herald Record: "Well done, my good and faithful servant! Very well done!" The Good Lord spoke these words to this very special angel as He wrapped His loving arms around her and called her on home to be with Him in Glory. Rachel Jeanette Humphrey Walters, our beloved and devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin and best friend, passed into the next Life peacefully and unexpectedly at home in her sleep on Saturday, September 8, 2007. She was 43 years old. To know Rachel was to thoroughly love and adore her. She was undoubtedly one of the most goodhearted, thoughtful, hardworking, generous, loving and all-around beautiful souls to ever grace the face of this Earth. Her family and friends are so incredibly blessed to have had her in our lives for the time that we did have her, and we THANK GOD for that!! One could not ask for a greater gift or blessing!! Rachel adored her family and was particularly devoted to her husband, her children and her mother, who was also her very, very close friend and constant companion. She was always ready with a smile, a helping hand, a positive word of advice or encouragement, or anything she could do to make those around her happy. She enjoyed organizing family functions, including fun-filled trips to different destinations throughout the country for her relatives and friends. No matter how busy she was, she ALWAYS made time to be with her family and friends, all of who reciprocated her extraordinary love. The Lord blessed the world with Rachel's presence when she was born to Virginia Lucille "Shane" Humphrey and the late Raymond Trent Humphrey in Beacon on May 31, 1964. She was educated in Beacon where she contributed so much to her school and community by serving as senior class president and captain of her championship cheerleading squad, as well as participating in other activities including softball, volleyball and bowling. She graduated from Beacon High School in 1982 and also attended Dutchess Community College and Mount Saint Mary College. Rachel was employed as a division clerk for the New York State Thruway and was also a member of the Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. On June 18, 1994, Rachel married her best friend and companion, Jonathan E. Walters. They made their home in Wappingers Falls. In addition to her loving husband and mother, Rachel is survived by her son, Elon, daughter, Jontae and step-daughter, Denise; brother, Raymond C. Humphrey and his wife, Tabatha; sister, Danielle L. Humphrey; sister, Trenthia C. Bongiorni and her husband, Anthony; nieces, LaSandra Aviles and Shiane Bongiorni; motherin-law, Idella Walters; brother-in-law, Brian Walters; aunts, Claudette Humphrey, Clara Young, Barbara Sims, Irene Humphrey, Margie DeJesus and Delcye Bundy; uncles, Lawrence Humphrey and the Rev.
