He was born on May 27, 1958, in San Francisco, California, to Ronald Glen Vincent and Lenore Bennion Vincent. He grew up in Clarence, New York, along with his siblings: Scott Bennion, Marcus Alan, Lorraine, and Lisa Cherie. It was while growing up In New York that he developed a love for the arts and performed in several high school musicals and upper-level choirs. Bret attended BYU and achieved both a Bachelor’s degree in Communications and a PhD in Instructional Science and Technology. It’s at BYU, in his freshman year, at jitterbug club that he met Sue Ellen Gilman. They were married December of 1979, after Bret served in the Kaushung, Taiwan Mission. Over time, they created a beautiful family of six children: Daniel Park, Andrew Bret, Matthew Shea, Alexander Taylor, Emily Paige, and Aaron Sterling. They are truly his greatest treasure. Bret’s work and adventurous spirit took their family to all of the following locations: North Attleboro, Massachusetts; Raleigh, North Carolina; Poughkeepsie, New York; Atlanta, Georgia; Branden, Florida; Oconomowoc, Wisconsin; Matthews, North Carolina; and Fall City, Washington. They finally settled in Woodland Hills, Utah, where he dedicated his life to the care of his father. Bret brought incredible gifts of love and authenticity to this world. One of his favorite quotes is: “No distance of place or lapse of time can lessen the friendship of those who are thoroughly persuaded of each other’s worth.” ~ Southey Bret found worth in everyone. Those of us who walked through life with him were continually blessed by his keen sense of sincere and deep connection. He left too soon. We look forward to continuing the adventures in the next life.
