| Events | Grace O Larkin remembered how stage coaches traveling from Buffalo to Batavia used to stop at the West Shore House in Clarence, owned by her grandfather, Richard Larkin. Born in the West Shore House, Miss Larkin joined the Clarence Church of Christ in 1909, when she was 13, and played piano for services and weddings for 42 years. Miss Larkin, who was 102 years old, was the church's oldest member. She died Sunday (Feb. 7, 1999) on the Harris Hill Nursing Facility. After graduating from Parker High School in 1914, Miss Larkin attended what is now the University at Buffalo, then taught elementary school in the Clarence area for 36 years. She was a charter member of Clarence Rebekah Lodge 168. |
