| Events | Joseph Vincent Gioia, Jr., son of the late Joseph Gioia and Patricia Oberlander died suddenly at the age of 73 on Monday, June 9, 2025. He was born in Batavia, NY in 1952. He was a member of Clarence Senior High School’s class of 1970. Joe was a charismatic individual and was well loved by all who knew him. He made his permanent home in Southern California where he moved in the early 1980s but always called New York home. Joe leaves behind three siblings: Dominic Michael Gioia, James Richard Gioia (Theresa), and Elizabeth “Lisa” Gioia-Acres (John), several nieces and nephews and his long-time friend and companion Rosmarie Cappozolla. He was also preceded in death by his beloved dog, Shelly. There will be no calling hours. Donations can be made in Joseph Gioia, Jr.’s name to Dogs for Better Lives, an Oregon-based organization that since 1977 provides assistance dogs to people, allowing them to live independent lives.
