| About | Shane Russell Therrien passed away unexpectedly at home on the evening of Oct. 15, 2025. He is survived by Colleen (Downs) Therrien, his wife of 50 years, and his two sons, Luke (Kelly) and Grant (Saunya), along with two grandchildren, Nolan and Kolton. Born in Newfane, N.Y., to George and Eleanor Therrien, Shane moved to the town of Portage in 1964, and later graduated from Keshequa Central School in 1973, along with his high school sweetheart Colleen Downs. Married in 1975, Shane went on to be a loving husband, caring father and grandfather, and local businessman. Well known for his gruff demeaner, Shane truly had a heart of gold that shone through during his years of working with his customers. He loved his daily visits with his farm customers and friends, helping people, working on his son Luke’s farm and working on projects in his shop. A celebration of life was held on Oct. 24, 2025, at the Nunda Fire Hall. A Shane-style brief memorial service was also held with a time for everyone to share their favorite casual stories. The Fire Hall was packed with his friends and family. He is greatly missed. |
