About | Jim graduated in 1965, and was a member of the large Murphy family in Marcellus. His family owned Marcellus Coal Company for at least two generations. Jim graduated from Lemoyne College in 1969 and then joined the Air Force. He was a pilot in Vietnam, and later flew B-52 bombers. He passed away unexpectedly at home while he was in the Air Force. Jim and I were born on the same day, and sat next to each other in Church School, where he regularly was sent over the back of the chairs by Father Hartnett. My brother has a house across Otisco Lake from the Murphy's, and I can still see Jim zooming over the lake waters behind the Murphy family's beautiful wooden Chris Craft ski boat. We both enjoyed partying, and both ended up flying in the military. I wanted to wish Jim the best up there in Heaven. If anyone else has any Murph stories, please add them here! Bob Buettgens. |
