Age 66 - Massena - Mr. Allen D. “Mac” McGlaughlin, 66, of 126 County Route 40, unexpectedly passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at Massena Memorial Hospital. Mac was born April 7, 1947 in Potsdam, the son of the late Wilber A. and Doris I. Laiton McGlaughlin. He first attended Raymondville Rural School before graduating from Norwood-Norfolk Central School in 1965. On September 15, 1965, he entered the US Marine Corps serving until his honorable discharge on September 14, 1969. When he returned home, Allen married Joan A. Savage on July 3, 1971 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Massena with Rev. Thomas Moody, officiating. In 1970, Mac began his career with the New York Power Authority retiring in 1999 as an electrician. He was a member of the Parishville ATV Club, the Earl J. Santimaw VFW Post #1143, and the Massena Rod and Gun Club. Mac was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, camping, and spending time with his dog, Shotgun. He had a genuine love for laughter, a very generous spirit, and was always doing good deeds for others in a kind and gentle way. Mac loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed to have a good time and "pick” on others. He is survived by his loving wife, Joan; his children, April LaBrake and Kirk and Heather McGlaughlin, all of Massena; his grandchildren, Mairkey, Makenzie, and Marcus LaBrake; his sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Dennis LaFleur of Raymondville; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena, where a funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM with Rev. Scott D. Fobare, officiating. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of one’s choice. |
