About | Age 78, (English Teacher) - Potsdam - Ann Howlett, 78, passed away on Saturday evening, February 11, 2012 at her home in Potsdam. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Potsdam, with Rev. Dr. Christopher Brown celebrant. Burial will follow in the spring at the Bayside Cemetery in Potsdam, NY. Online condolences can be sent at www.garnerfh.com. She was born February 15, 1933 in Mt. Vernon, to the late Bill and Janet Caparis. She was a 1950 graduate of Pelham High School, Pelham. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from State University of New York at Albany, and her master’s degree in education from State University of New York at Potsdam. Ann was married to E. Stanley Howlett, III on July 9, 1955 at Christ Church in Pelham. Mrs. Howlett was a much-beloved English teacher at Norwood-Norfolk High School for 27 years. She was President of the Trinity Episcopal Church Alter Guild for over 20 years. Ann is survived by her husband, E. Stanley Howlett, III, of Potsdam; a son, William S. (Stacey) Howlett of Norwood; daughters Barbara A. (James Gass) Howlett of Liverpool and Nancy J. (James) Bonner of Potsdam; a grandson, Douglas J. Sharlow, Jr. of Albany; a granddaughter, Erin E. Howlett of Potsdam; brothers Donald (Wendy) Caparis of Pacific Grove, CA and Peter (Georgia) Caparis of Palos Verdes Estates, CA; and a sister, Janet (Serge) Samour of Selden. She was pre-deceased by her brother, James Caparis in 1985; and a grandson, William S. Howlett, Jr. in 2008.
