| About | Bruce "Stats" Statham, age 65, of Little Sliver, died on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, after a courageous year long battle with lung cancer. He was a remarkable man who had led a full and fun loving life. He was born in Brooklyn, NY to Ethel and "Buddy" Statham. He was raised with his younger brothers, Gary and Randy. Bruce graduated from Virginia Tech in 1967, and was an avid "Hokie Fan" throughout his entire life. His TEK fraternity brothers remained a constant source of laughter and memories from year to year. Bruce married his college sweetheart, Cindy Christopher with whom he had two daughters, Elizabeth and Holly. Elizabeth resides in California with her husband, Paul and daughter Lillie. Holly resides in Utah with her husband, Dave and two daughters Delaney and Callahan. Bruce's early working years were spent at Fisher Scientific and Merrill Lynch. Most of his career years were spent in sales where he worked at Pacific Connections for 20 years before his retirement in 2008. In 1984, Bruce moved to New York City. It was there that he met and luckily married his second wife of 24 years, Karen Cutler. They moved to Little Silver NJ and had a son together, Taylor, now 16. His greatest pride was his family. His three children and three grandchildren were his inspiration and delight. He loved making them laugh and creating memories with trips to Catalina Island, Fossil Digs, Mexico Adventures. He was an excellent story teller and loved an audience. And he had many stories to tell, because his life was a constant adventure. He had a great sense of humor and could laugh at himself. For the most part, the world met him on his own terms because he was so fearless and utterly comfortable in his own skin, but also because he was certainly blessed to have married Karen, who was his anchor. His commanding presence and his wild sense of fashion left a lasting impression on everyone around him. His love of gardening, fishing, friends, food and all things sun worthy, were his passions. Those of us who knew and loved him, feel fortunate to have had this striking individual with us as long as we did and his example will live on in our lives and memories. He will be greatly missed. Visitation hours will be Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 1 to 4 pm at The Thompson Memorial Home, 310 Broad St, Red Bank, NJ with a service at 3:30.
