| About | TIFFANY, DANIEL (TIFF) GLENN 66, of Scipio Center passed away unexpectedly November 21, 2015. Dan, born January 4, 1949, in Endicott, NY, was raised in and still had family ties to the Owego, NY area. He was an active member of the Southern Cayuga County community for over 40 years. After graduating from Owego Free Academy, Dan began working for Cornell University in 1966 at the Musgrave Research Farm in Aurora, NY. He thoroughly enjoyed the work he did and the many people he met throughout the farming community over the 38 years he was there until his retirement in 2004. Since retiring, Dan has traveled more and enjoyed gardening and keeping his lawn "neat and tidy" as he would say. Dan was a proud and dedicated member of the Scipio Fire Department since 1979. He served in many positions including Truck Officer, Chief, and President. He cooked at dozens of pancake breakfasts and chicken barbecues over 36 years! He was serving his third term, since 2004, as commissioner for the Scipio, Venice, and Ledyard Fire District. Dan always felt an important achievement of his life was the 20 years he spent as League president and active player in the Ron Pettit Memorial Fireman's Softball League. Dan enjoyed playing softball, especially in the 'Over 40' League in Auburn, NY. He also proudly coached his son and many other boys in Little League baseball in King Ferry, NY from 1977 to 1982. Dan was a lifelong sports fan and loved the NY Giants, NY Yankees, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Syracuse Orangemen! Predeceased by his biological mother, Malinda Maassen Tiffany, and his father, Frederick Allen Tiffany, Dan is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Elaine Lee Tiffany, who has been there beside him through many health problems and procedures and life adventures. He is also survived by his children, Michael (Michele) Tiffany of Moultrie, GA, and Malinda Tiffany of Powhatan, VA; his treasured grandson, Alex Harrison of Powhatan, VA and four grandchildren in Colorado, Will and Colin (Travis and Sara) and Evelyn and Vivian (Jeremy and Teresa) Reynolds; his stepmother Beverly Tiffany; brothers, Larry Segar of Jordan NY, Steve (Janet) Tiffany and Jeff (Suzie) Tiffany of Owego, NY and sister Debbie (Bill) Standinger of Candor NY; three nephews, Steve, Jonathan, and Zach Tiffany of Owego, NY; and three nieces, Katie, Sarah, and Mary Standinger of Candor, NY. He always wanted to be a father and lovingly attended every sports event and school function his kids participated in. He encouraged his kids and many other young people over the years to do their best and be good citizens. Dan will also be survived by his long time good friend, Wayne Pettit, and the Pettit family, who included him in so many of their family celebrations. Dan touched many people's lives and has had a lot of supportive friends over the years. Thank you to everyone in the Scipio community and throughout Cayuga County who were a friend, associate, work colleague, fellow softball player or volunteer firefighter for being a part of his of life. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory are requested to be sent to the Scipio Volunteer Fire Company at 3550 Route 34 Scipio Center, NY 13147. Calling hours will be from 2pm to 5pm on Friday November 27, 2015 at the Scipio Volunteer Fire Company. A short memorial service to celebrate his life and reception will be held immediately following. |
