| About | One of two or three people to die at Woodstock. P.F.C. U.S. Marine Corps, of Avenue A, Holbrook, died suddenly on August 17 in Horton Memorial Hospital, Middletown, N.Y. He had attended the Aquarian Exposition at White Lake, Bethel, and was found unconscious by his friends on Saturday. August 16th. No cause of death has been determined. Pvt. Bieler was born in Port Jefferson and had lived all his life in Holbrook. He was a graduate of Sachem High School and joined the Marine Corps in January. He graduated from the Marine Corps demolition school this month and was among the top 10 men in his class. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bieler, his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Frances Gerhart, a brother, Frank. Jr., all of Holbrook, and his paternal grandfather, Louis Bieler of Freeport. Military services were held on Saturday afternoon in Raynor's Chapel, with the Rev. Edward Roser, pastor of St. John's Lutheran Church of Holbrook officiating. Interment was in Union Cemetery, Sayville. |
