About | Army Major Charles Albert Wiley, retired, passed away on June 22, 2015 at the age of 93 while at Auburn Community Hospital. Born on Dec. 8, 1921, to Joseph Albert and Lillian Ryder Wiley in Syracuse, he was a Skaneateles area resident most of his life. Charles actively served his country during the Korean War attaining the rank of major, and continued his service in the Army Reserves after the war. On Jan. 2, 1943, Charles married Florence Lee Fiedler, to whom he remained married until his death. Throughout his life “Chuck” enjoyed reading, camping, watching WWII movies, and singing in many choirs and barbershop quartets. He graduated in 1942 from Skaneateles Central High School. Charles is survived by his wife Florence Wiley of Skaneateles; a daughter Carol Riels and her husband Ollie of Spring City, TN; a son Joseph Wiley and his wife Sherry of Mottville, N.Y.; and a daughter Janice Wentworth and her husband Dale of North Brookfield, MA. Charles has four grandsons: Kent Koehn of Columbia, SC; Chris Koehn (deceased); Kelly Wiley and his wife Karen of Onondaga; and Peter Wiley and his wife Susie of Auburn. Charles also has four great-grandchildren: Anaise, Taylor Ann, Kip, and Jimmy, and one great-great-grandson Max. He will also be greatly missed by Scot Hauver and Nancy Morris. Services will be for the immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in his name to the SPCA of Auburn or SAVES of Skaneateles.
