Deborah Heller Ruppert died Thursday (July 23, 2009) after a long illness. She was 53.Mrs. Ruppert, of Leon, W.Va., was born May 25, 1956 in White Plains, N.Y., to David and Joan Heller. She graduated from Valhalla High School in 1974 and became a licensed practical nurse the same year. She was licensed as a registered nurse in 1986. An avid sports car racing enthusiast, she met Anthony Paul Ruppert in 1974 when both were members of the Eastern motor Racing Association. The two were married in 1975. Mrs. Ruppert, a respected and accomplished medical professional, devoted her life to caring for her family and caring for others. She worked as an emergency department nurse, a clinical nurse educator and served as director of the West Virginia Coalition for Quality Health Care from 1999 to 2008, when she retired.Mrs. Ruppert loved the theater, especially the show "Rent," and lived her life by the show's theme: "No day but today."Mrs. Ruppert is survived by her husband and four children, Kevin Meehan and his fiancee, Marjorie Roe of Dania Beach, Fla., Amanda Ruppert of South Charleston, Courtney Ruppert of Eleanor; her sisters, Elizabeth Lena and her husband William Lena of Leon, W.Va., Barbara Waldbaum of Leon; three brothers, Jonathan Heller and his wife Kristina Heller of San Diego, Calif., Bruce call and his wife Kathy Call of Fairborn, Ohio; Douglas Call and his wife Barbara Call of Shrub Oak, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a sister, Laurie Lennon |
