About WEAVERVILLE– Anita Dase Pounders, age 80, of Weaverville, died Thursday, July 30, 2020.

Mrs. Pounders was born February 14, 1940 in Las Vegas, Nevada to the late Sam Charles and Jeanette Marie Snyder Dase; she was a resident of Buncombe County since 1960. Anita was employed with the Buncombe County school system for about 8 years and retired from Mission Hospital Golden Care. She was an Avid “Gone With The Wind” fan, reader and doll collector. Anita had a card ministry, and was a member of Newbridge Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and served on the Host and Hostess team.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert W. “Bobby” Pounders who died in 2018; son, DeWayne Pounders and son-in-law, Bruce Thompson; sister, Michelle Brendel; and brothers, Phillip Dase, and Larry Anderson.

Surviving are her daughter, Renee Thompson of Loris, SC; son, Allen Pounders and wife Brenda of Weaverville; sister, Brianne Poole; brothers, Frank, John and Sam Dase; granddaughter, Jennifer Jones and husband Kevin; and great grandchildren, Loralei, Christopher, DeWayne and Jessica.

Anyone wishing to sign the guest book and pay their respects may drop by West Funeral Home between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2020 (the family will not be present).

Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2020 in the Chapel of West Funeral Home, 17 Merrimon Avenue, Weaverville. Reverend Clark Henderson, Reverend Carter Pounders, Jr. and son, Allen Pounders will officiate. Burial will follow in West Memorial Park, Weaverville.
