About EDEN,NC — Robert "Bobby" Lee Shockley, 60, of 400 North Ridge Drive, passed away Monday night, April 20, 2009, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro, surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 24, at Fair Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Roselawn Burial Park in Martinsville, Va.

Mr. Shockley, a Rockingham County native, was born September 19, 1948, in Leaksville (now Eden). He was a U.S. Marines veteran and a member of County Line Christian Church in Axton, Va. Bobby had been employed as an over-the-road truck driver for JB Hunt Transport until his failing health forced him to retire. He had over 20 years of service with RAGE, Inc. (dba Pizza Hut) as a restaurant general manager where he received numerous outstanding awards throughout his career. Some of his awards included Highest Quality, Service, and Cleanliness, Highest Profit from Operations, and Manager of the Year. Bobby was an avid sports fan. Nascar driver, Bill Elliott and the North Carolina Tarheels were his all- time favorites.

Surviving are his wife, Susan Mitchell Shockley of the home; daughters, Angela Lea Shockley and Stephanie Kay Shockley; step-daughter, Rita Morris Hill and husband, Gerald; three grandchildren, Shelly Ann Shockley, Michael Lee Shockley, and Taylor Alyssa Hill; mother, Peggy Terry Shockley East and husband, Ronald; sister, Sherry Shockley Bateman and husband, Ricky; brother, Timothy Lynn Shockley and wife, Melody; nieces and nephews, Deanna Bateman, Dara Cassell, Brian Shockley, Rosemary Shockley, and Jason Boothe; special nieces and nephews, Austin and Avari Cassell, Baylee Fisher, Keagan Tuggle, and Dakota Boothe.

In addition to his father, Coy Shockley, he was preceded in death by his son, Robert Shockley; sister, Teri Shockley Boothe; nephew, Joshua R. Boothe; and grandparents, Eugene and Iva Shockley, Marvin Terry, and Edna Morrison Wade.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Fair Funeral Home.
