About Walker Herring Taylor
Mr. Taylor, of Charlotte, was born into this world on July 23, 1986 in Henderson, NC. He lived in Greensboro, Charlotte, and Davidson with his family. In Charlotte, Walker was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he was active in the youth group, and participated in several mission trips including Heifer International. Walker graduated from Providence High School in June 2005, and has been a student at Auburn University for the past four years. He was a proud Auburn Tiger, and was majoring in Forestry.
Walker treasured his many friendships at Auburn, and loved living in Alabama. Walker's passion was anything involving the outdoors including hunting, fishing, kayaking, and boating. He spent any chance he had quail hunting at his Papa's cabin in Newton Grove, NC. We rejoice knowing Walker has entered the Kingdom of Heaven where God will wrap His loving arms around him and reunite Walker with all his loved ones who have gone before him.
Walker's loving immediate family, mother Lisa Herring Mende, stepdad Bryant Mende, sister Rebekah Taylor, brothers Hiller and Thomas Mende, all of Charlotte, NC, father, Bob Taylor and stepmother Donna Taylor of Davidson, NC, maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William T. Herring of Newton Grove, NC and paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton and Mary Elizabeth Taylor of Norlina, NC, and his wonderful dog and faithful companion, Levi, all survive him.
He is also survived by his special friends, Sally Runge of Atlanta, GA and Chad Carter of New Site, AL; aunts and uncles, Tommy and Sharon Herring of Newton Grove, NC, David and Lisa Herring of Lillington, NC, Mark and Sylvia Herring of Benson, NC, Betty and Steve Smith of Goldsboro, NC, Mary Dowell and Dwight Hinson of Foley Beach, AL and Doug and Helene Taylor of Seattle, WA.
A church service to celebrate Walker's life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday morning, May 14 at Goshen United Methodist Church. Take exit 348 off I-40 and go west onto Suttontown Road in Newton Grove, NC. Viewing will be 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the church sanctuary. Visitation will follow the service. Burial will be private. Additional memorial services will be scheduled for Auburn, AL and Charlotte, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be sent to the Walker Taylor Memorial Fund, c/o GUMC, PO Box 51, Newton Grove, NC 28366.
